Madhuri Dixit Rejected Hollywood Offers During 2nd Pregnancy, Says ‘I Didn’t Really…’ | Exclusive – News18

Madhuri Dixit and Dr Nene may have relocated to India now but their sons, Arin and Ryan, are in the US pursuing their studies.

At the peak of her career and amidst much speculation about her personal life, Madhuri Dixit married California-based cardiovascular surgeon Dr. Shriram Nene in 1999. She spent the next decade in Colorado, during which her film appearances became less frequent. In that time, she became a mother to two sons and returned to India in 2011. Reflecting on her time in the U.S., Madhuri shared in an exclusive conversation with News18 Showsha that while she did receive a few offers from Hollywood, she ultimately chose to turn them down.

Talking about it, she tells us, “Well, there were one or two opportunities that came my way but I was pregnant with my second child at that time. I didn’t want to work when I was pregnant. That’s why I had said no.” Interestingly, during this decade, a bunch of her Bollywood peers such as Aishwarya Rai, Irrfan and Anil Kapoor had forayed into Hollywood with their films – Bride & Prejudice, The Warrior and Slumdog Millionaire – and created a lot of noise.

But Madhuri shares that she didn’t even try and push herself to become a part of the film industry in the West. “At that time, I was so involved in making a family and living that life, which was also a part of my dreams. I didn’t really think about doing a Hollywood film. I’m happy doing what I’m doing here. And Indian films, anyway, are watched all over the world,” says the actor, who’s riding high on the success of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 currently.

Quiz her about their reaction to it and she says, “They don’t sit and watch my films (laughs). But they did watch Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. They went to a theatre in the US with all their friends. My son called me and said that they thought the film was very funny and they really enjoyed watching it. They loved me as a ghost. So, I can say that for this film, I’ve their approval.”

Madhuri shares that she isn’t the kind of mother who would insist her sons on watching her films and that’s why they aren’t familiar with most of her works. “They’re curious. Once in a while, they watch some scenes and tell me, ‘When did you do this movie?’ They recently watched the video of K Sera Sera and told me that I was really cool in it. That’s how they sometimes watch some of my clips. Because how do I tell them that let’s sit and watch my movies? I find it very odd to make them do that and it’s not going to happen. I’ll let them discover all that with their friends,” asserts the Kalank actor.
