Due to non-timely supply of nutritious food at the Anganwadi centers of Ambedkar Nagar, the food items supplied to children up to two lakh eight thousand six years of age, pregnant and lactating women every month are getting delayed.

Now preparations are being made to hand over the solution to this problem in the hands of NAFED (National Agricultural Co-operative Marketing Federation of India).
There are 2551 Anganwadi centers in the district, out of which the responsibility of supplying nutritious food to the centers of 437 Akbarpur, 333 Jalalpur, 212 Bhiti, 232 Katehari and 258 Jahangirganj was given to various self-help groups.
These groups included Annapurna Mahila Prerna Small Industries, Amar Prerna Small Industries and Sangharsh Mahila Prerna Small Industries. However, these institutions did not supply on time, due to which there were problems in distribution.
To solve this problem, the responsibility was already handed over to NAFED under an alternative arrangement, and now the responsibility of distribution of nutritious food in all the 10 blocks will be given to NAFED.
District Program Officer SK Singh said that the allocation for the month of November is likely to be released from the government soon, and it is expected that this time the responsibility of supply for all the development blocks will be handed over to NAFED.
