Kansa was killed on the 10th day of the Shri Krishna Leela centenary year festival organized by Shri Krishna Leela Committee in the Gaushala located at Balkeshwar. After the stage leela, chief guest MLC Vijay Shivhare along with Pradeep Krishna Thakur, the incarnation of Shri Krishna, lit the 70 feet tall effigy of Kansa on fire. Within no time, Kansa fell into the embrace of time. Devotees burst fireworks in celebration. Ashfaq of Badaun had prepared attractive fireworks.

It is shown in the leela that King Kansa sent Kagasura, Bakasura, Nagasur, Bagulasur to kill his nephew Shri Krishna but Lord Shri Krishna killed them all. Narad ji reached Kansa’s court and advised Shri Krishna to call him to Mathura. After this, Kansa sent Akrur ji to Braj. Seeing the scene of Shri Krishna going to Mathura, every devotee felt as if he was suffering from separation from the Gopis. Shri Krishna and Balram reached Mathura. The devotees were mesmerized by watching the act of killing Rajak, blessing on the tailor, Kunwaliya’s suffering, elephant’s salvation, breaking of the bow, entry into the arena, Chanur and Mushtik’s salvation and finally the act of killing Kansa during the Malla war. As soon as Kansa was killed, chants of Shri Krishna Govind Hare Murari started echoing in the pandal. After this, the coronation of Shri Ugrasen and the release of Vasudev and Devaki from prison.

As soon as the fireworks were over, a crowd of devotees gathered near the effigy of Kansa. The form of Lord Shri Krishna set the effigy on fire with a fire arrow. At first the effigy appeared laughing. Then within a short time the effigy burnt to ashes. During this, 20 types of fireworks were set off.
