When the police searched the criminal, cash and jewelery were recovered from him. Apart from this, pistol, cartridges, bike and mobile have been recovered. After receiving the information, ADCP Varuna and ACP Rohaniya reached the spot. After interrogation, the injured criminal was sent to the hospital, where his treatment is ongoing. The absconding companion was searched for an hour.

The police has got success in uncovering the robbery of jewelery worth Rs 3 lakh from bullion businessman Deepak Seth on 6 November 2024 in Lohta police station area. The ultimatum given by DCP Varuna Chandrakant Meena to Police Station Head Lohta regarding the disclosure of the incident was also effective. While searching for the robber, the accused Mahesh Gupta was caught by the police.

Lohta Inspector Praveen Kumar had a clash with the robbers on Sunday morning. The bike riders tried to escape by dodging the police but the police team chased the robbers for several kilometers and laid siege. The police and the miscreants fired face to face, the policeman riding the jeep narrowly escaped being shot by the miscreants.

In retaliatory firing by the police, a bullet hit the leg of the fleeing robber Mahesh Gupta. As soon as the police shot, the bike lost control and fell and Mahesh Gupta got buried under the bike. The other companion Shivam escaped taking advantage of the darkness. However, he escaped even being shot by the police.

Police personnel caught him and his associates identified the injured criminal as Mahesh Gupta. Cases of robbery and snatching are already registered against him in other police stations including Lohta. He forms a gang and commits crimes and then runs away to other districts.

DCP learned the incident, ADCP-ACP reached the spot.

On receiving information about the encounter between police and miscreants in Lohta of Varuna Zone, DCP Varuna Chandrakant Meena took information about the incident from SHO Praveen Kumar. Inquired about the police encounter point by point, and also inquired about the efficiency of the police personnel.

Inspector said that the accused has been identified as Mahesh Gupta, the absconding accomplice was Shivam Yadav. These two miscreants had looted jewelery worth Rs 3 lakh from bullion businessman Deepak Seth near Sirsa Public School, Lohta on the night of 6 November 2024.

After this, ADCP Saravanan T. and ACP Rohania Sanjeev Sharma were instructed to reach the encounter site. On the instructions of DCP, the forensic team and other officers reached the spot and conducted a complete investigation.

On arrival of ADCP, the injured criminal was sent to the hospital in a police jeep. Police is investigating the criminal history of the criminal and after getting discharge from the doctors, he will be sent to jail.

The incident took place near Kotwa post

On Tuesday night, November 6, at around 9 pm, two hundred meters away from the Kotwan police post of Lohta police station area, miscreants had snatched a bag full of jewelery from moneylender Deepak Seth near the primary school of Sirsa village. Deepak was going to his home in Korut by bike after closing his shop in Maheshpur.

Near Sirsa village, two bike riding criminals came from behind, overtook and stopped them and then started demanding the bag at gunpoint. There was a little scuffle but the miscreants pushed Deepak by pulling the bag and ran away towards Korota market after snatching the bag full of jewellery. Deepak’s mobile was also in the bag.

When the police searched the CCTV cameras at various places, two suspicious faces emerged, although they could not be arrested that day. DCP Varuna asked for the report of the action taken in the entire matter and directed Lohta police to disclose it at any cost but nothing was found. On the basis of Deepak Seth’s complaint, a case of snatching was registered against unknown miscreants at the police station.
