Suryakumar Yadav’s respectful gesture during the fourth T20I between India and South Africa is winning hearts on social media. Suryakumar led the Men in Blue to a 3-1 series triumph against The Proteas on Friday, November 15. The final clash between the two cricket powerhouses was held at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg. During the fixture’s second innings, India were celebrating a wicket when Suryakumar accidentally stepped on a Team India cap that had fallen on the ground. He quickly reacted by picking up the cap and kissing it with respect. A fan has now shared the touching moment’s clip on Instagram. “Respect for Surya 100,” read the post.
The video began with Suryakyumar Yadav running up to Ravi Bishnoi who had completed a brilliant catch to dismiss a South African batter. As the Indian players hugged each other Bishnoi’s cap fell onto the cricket ground but the celebrations didn’t stop. After Suryakumar realised he stepped on the cap, he picked it up and handed it over to Rinku Singh before hugging the Indian star. The captain treated the cap with a sign of respect for the Indian crest.
Fans have now reacted to Suryakumar Yadav’s respectful gesture in the comments section. One of them wrote, “To be honest Surya is the most selfless captain. He is leading this young team in a perfect way with a total understanding bond with them.”
Another claimed that the skipper knew the true value of the Team India cap. “Because he knows the hard work behind that to get that cap,” the fan wrote.

Suryakumar Yadav also showcased a selfless moment during the final T20I between India and South Africa in Johannesburg. The Indian skipper promoted Tilak Varma up the batting order during the first innings. He explained the reason for the change in the batting line-up during the post-match conference. “It was actually running in my mind that there has been a time when one man has batted consistently at number three and has done wonders for India…So, this was a perfect opportunity for a young guy, definitely for him, who is showing a lot of promise. We both actually spoke to each other and he took up the responsibility. He just walked the talk,” Suryakumar said, as per multiple outlets.
The decision worked perfectly in India’s favour as Tilak Varma went on to add a 47-ball 120. He helped the visitors finish the innings at 283/1. The young batter paved the way for a dominant 135-run victory as India bagged yet another T20I series under Gautam Gambhir’s management.
