Despite featuring the biggest of names, there are some film projects, which are simply bound to fail. Over the years, numerous such titles were released, which failed to impress the audience and became box-office disasters. One example of such a project was released in the early 2000s, after years of delays and ended up a flop. However, there were several reasons behind the outcome.
The film being talked about here is titled Meri Biwi Ka Jawaab Nahin, which was released in theatres in 2004. If the reports are to be believed, the film took around a decade to complete. The film started filming in 1994 and was released on July 2, 2004. The film was headlined by the biggest stars of the era – Sridevi and Akshay Kumar. Despite that, it badly failed at generating business.
In one of his earlier appearances on the show Koffee With Karan, Akshay Kumar revealed that the show’s producer had left the film halfway. So, due to the constrain in budget, the shoot had to be stopped midway. More than half of the film was shot and unsurprisingly remained a half-baked project. After a lot of struggles, the film was somehow completed and was finally released in 2004. Interestingly, a climax was not shot for the film and it only showcased a poster of the characters completing their revenge. It is followed by a scene of Akshay and Sridevi dancing together with joy.
Meri Biwi Ka Jawaab Nahin directed by Pankaj Parashar. The cast included names like Sridevi, Akshay Kumar, Gulshan Grover, Anupam Kher, Johnny Lever and many others. It is produced by S M Iqbal while its distribution was done by Iqbal Productions and J K Creations. Laxmikant-Pyarelal did the music and the cinematographer is S Gopala Reddy. Yusuf Sheikh did the editing. The film is a remake of the 1992 Telugu film Mondi Mogudu Penki Pellam.
