PM Modi is currently on a three-nation visit, including to Nigeria.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a three-nation visit, will be honoured with Nigeria’s second highest national honour ‘The Grand Commander of The Order of the Niger’.
Queen Elizabeth is the only foreign dignitary who has been awarded GCON in 1969.
This will be the 17th such international award being conferred to PM Modi by a country.
PM Modi landed in Nigeria on Sunday and received a warm welcome from the Indian diaspora. He will further travel to Brazil and Guyana in the next leg of his five-day tour.
Recently, Dominica announced to confer its highest national honour to the Prime Minister in recognition of his contributions to the country during the COVID-19 pandemic and his work to strengthen the relations between the two nations.
President of Dominica Sylvanie Burton will confer the honour to PM Modi during the India-CARICOM Summit in Guyana from November 19 to 21.
