On Saturday, Nayanthara rocked the Tamil film industry after she called out Dhanush. The actress said Dhanush, who had produced Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, has sued her for Rs 10 Cr for using a behind-the-scenes footage in her upcoming documentary. Her statement shed light on the struggles she has been facing while procurring permissions from the actor.
In the statement, she took a jibe at him as well, seemingly calling him a hypocrite. The letter has gone viral and several actresses who have worked with Dhanush have reacted to the same. Shruti Haasan, who has worked with Dhanush in 3 (Moonu), hinted that she is team Nayanthara by ‘liking’ the actress’s post.
Other Dhanush’s co-stars such as Aishwarya Rajesh (Vada Chennai), Aishwarya Lekshmi (Jagame Thandhiram), Nazriya Fahadh (Naiyaandi), Anupama Parameswaran (Kodi), Parvathy Thiruvothu (Maryan), Manjima Mohan (Nilavuku Enmel Ennadi Kobam), and Gouri G Kishan (Karnan) have also showed their support to Nayanthara by ‘liking’ her post. Parvathy also shared the post on her Instagram Stories and saluted Nayanthara.
Nayanthara is set to release her documentary, ‘Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairy Tale’ is set to release on Netflix on November 18. The documentary is set to show the highs and lows of Nayanthara’s life. The documentary will also shed light on her love story with Vignesh Shivan, which began on the sets of Naanum Rowdy Dhaan. Nayanthara, in her open letter, accused Dhanush of not responding to her NOC request to use footage from the film in the documentary.
She added that after the team decided to forgo the usage of footage from the film and use a behind-the-scene video which is freely available online, Dhanush sued her for using the footage without his permission.
“What’s even more shocking is your legal notice after the release of the trailer of the Netflix Documentary. We were startled to read those lines wherein you questioned the usage of some videos (just 3 seconds) which were shot in our personal devices and that too BTS visuals that are already very much publicly present on social media and claimed a sum of Rs.10 crores as damages for the mere 3 seconds. This is an all time low from you and speaks so much about your character. I wish you were half the person you portray to be on stage in audio launches in front of your innocent fans but clearly you do not practice what you preach, at least not for me and my partner,” Nayanthara said in her statement.
