Tax of Rs 12 crore is outstanding on commercial vehicles registered in the ARTO office of Kannauj district. To recover this, the government has implemented a one-time settlement scheme. Under this scheme, there will be 100 percent exemption in penalty for depositing tax.

There are around 600 to 700 such commercial vehicles registered in ARTO office Kannauj, on which huge amount of tax is outstanding. A penalty is also imposed for not depositing tax within the stipulated time, which increases with time. Due to which motor owners try to avoid paying tax and then RC is deducted in their name.

In such a situation, the government has implemented a one-time settlement scheme to recover the outstanding tax, which has been implemented from 6th November and will continue till 5th February. Under this scheme, the motor owner will get 100% exemption in penalty on depositing tax. Giving information about the matter, ARTO Ijya Tiwari said that to avail the benefit of the scheme, the motor owner will have to come to his office and submit the application form at counter number 2.

Full fee including penalty will have to be paid Here, an application fee of Rs 200 will have to be deposited for small vehicles and Rs 500 for big vehicles. ARTO said that if the vehicle is caught while moving on the road at the time of checking due to non-payment of tax, then the motor owner will have to pay the entire tax including penalty.

Financier will have to pay tax on towing the vehicle ARTO Ijya Tiwari said that if your vehicle has been towed by the financier due to failure to deposit the installment, then the motor owner should inform his department about it. In such a situation, the vehicle tax will be deposited from the financier from the date on which the financier gives the surrender slip to the motor owner and then the RC will also be deducted in the name of the financier. Apart from this, those who have got their vehicle cut off should also inform the department about this and get their name cut off in the papers, otherwise the tax will keep increasing.
