Sugarcane farmers of Lakhimpur Kheri are facing a lot of trouble these days. Farmers allege that they have not yet received any solution for the payment of last year’s dues from Bajaj Group’s Gola, Palia, and Khambharkheda sugar mills. About Rs 360 crore of lakhs of farmers will be received in these funds.

Unable to sow Ravi

Farmers say that from the mills They are going through financial crisis due to non-payment of sugarcane price. They are not even able to sow their Ravi crops. This situation has become a matter of concern for them.

Official said – full payment has been made from 6 out of 9 mills

District Sugarcane Officer said that a total of 9 sugar mills are operating in the district. Of these, 6 mills have made full payment for the last session 2023-24. These include two cooperative mills and four private mills. These mills include Balrampur Group’s Kumbhi and Gularia, Govind Sugar Mill and Shriram’s Ajabapur Group, which have made 100 percent payment.

But payments are still pending on Bajaj Group’s three sugar mills, Gola, Palia and Khambharkheda. On these mills, about Rs 175 crore are outstanding on Gola Mill, Rs 168 crore on Palia Mill and Rs 112 crore on Khambharkheda Mill. At present, notices have been issued to these mills from the government level and pressure is being created for payment.

Efforts are being made from the government level

District Sugarcane Officer said that the government has already started putting pressure on the problem of payment of dues. Meanwhile, money has also been taken from the power plant in Lalitpur and payments have been made to the farmers, of which three mills in Lakhimpur Kheri district got the highest share, which was about Rs 420 crore. Continuous efforts are being made by the government so that the dues of the farmers can be settled quickly and their problems can be resolved.
