According to a media portal, the Shaktimaan team has reportedly approached Minnal Murali fame director.

The internet was abuzz with reports of Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh reportedly playing the role of Shaktimaan in a film to be directed by Basil Joseph. Now, Basil has denied any such update in an interview given to a media portal, while promoting his film Sookshmadarshini. Basil was asked if the audience was looking forward to the second part of the Shaktimaan and Minnal Murali. The 34-year-old actor said that he has nothing to say about it. Basil added that he has not announced anything regarding these 2 films. As per the reports, the producers believed that the director would be able to work on the film in a much better way. They reportedly felt that because he is well-versed in Indian superhero films.

Shaktimaan was a superhero show that aired on Doordarshan. The protagonist, much like Superman, was a superhero under the garb of a photojournalist by the name of Pandit Gangadhar Vidhyadhar Mayadhar Omkarnath Shastri. Mukesh Khanna played this character. He will not enact the character again in the film based on the Indian superhero. He shared the teaser of the film on November 8, 2024. The teaser, which was shared on the actor’s YouTube channel, shows Shaktimaan at school. In the teaser, he is checking sketches of many Indian revolutionaries such as Chandrasekhar Azad, Bhagat Singh, and Subhash Chandra Bose, and singing, “Aazadi ke deewanon ne jung ladhi phir jaanein di, ang ang kat gaye magar anch watan par na ane di…” The teaser has garnered more than 8,00,000 views.

The teaser, however, received backlash from the social media users. Many wrote that he had ruined the legacy of Shaktimaan. Another user said that Mukesh has destroyed his career due to too much negative publicity and controversy. The comment section has now been turned off.
