Pollution coming from Pakistan, Punjab and Delhi in the north-western direction is also entering the city. As the wind direction changed, the AQI increased from 136 to 206 on Sunday.
Municipal Corporation’s arrangements are proving inadequate.
Arrangements are proving inadequate Air pollution is high in the city due to digging, unpaved footpaths, lack of water sprinkling arrangements and continuous increase in the number of vehicles. But apart from the pollution occurring in the city, the air pollution coming from outside is also spoiling the health of the air here. North-westerly winds travel a long route from across the border to reach here.
Pollution is continuously increasing In November, AQI was 202 on 14th and 229 on 15th. North-westerly winds were blowing both these days. On the remaining days when AQI remained below 200, northwest winds were not blowing.
On Sunday, northwest wind was in mixed form and AQI crossed 200. AQI of Nehru Nagar Center reached 198.
