Micro Finance Association of Uttar Pradesh (UPMA) organized its 7th annual convention in Lucknow. On this occasion, financial experts and institutions from across the country discussed the role of micro finance in making the economy of Uttar Pradesh a trillion dollar economy.

While inaugurating the convention, the chief guest of the convention, Social Welfare Minister Aseem Arun, appreciated the contribution made by micro finance institutions in improving the living standards of women.

Congratulating Upma, former SBI Chairman Dinesh Khara said that such discussions will help in the development of the state and achieving the goal of a trillion dollar economy.
On this occasion, micro finance expert Vijay Mahajan said that micro finance is helpful in making the weaker sections, especially women, self-reliant. Govind Singh, MD of Utkarsh Bank said, “We are providing employment loans to women and small businessmen in rural and deprived areas. Encouraging self-reliance.”
Sadhan chief GG Memon said that with the help of institutions like NABARD and SIDBI, micro finance institutions are making loans available to the weaker section.
Keynote speakers included Tamal Bandyopadhyay, Advisor, Jana Bank, from Mumbai, Govind Singh, MD, Utkarsh Bank, Uday Kumar, MD, Credit Access, Vivek Tiwari, MD, Satya Microcapital and other experts. Around 250 delegates participated in the conference.
