Nayanthara and Dhanush’s friendship has taken a sour turn due to her documentary footage.
Although things have taken a sour turn between Nayanthara and Dhanush, the two superstars used to be good friends and had a significant impact on each other’s lives. Dhanush played cupid for Nayanthara and her husband Vignesh Shivan after he made him narrate the story of Naanum Rowdy Dhaan to the lady superstar.
In an interview with Hello Magazine, Vignesh said, “Dhanush sir made me narrate the story (of Naanum Rowdy Dhaan) to Nayan (Nayanthara). She liked it. Once she came on board, I was able to cast actor Vijay Sethupathi, who was initially not keen to do this film. He was not convinced about the script. But he agreed after Nayan said yes. The movie paved the way for me to spend a lot of time around her. We got involved within a year.”
Nayanthara said that during the early days of their relationship, they were trying to figure out whether they were compatible or not. However, things happened organically with them. She added, “It was very organic… we just went with the flow. After three months, we both knew that this was it.”
Nayanthara and Vignesh announced their engagement in 2021. They later got married on June 9, 2022. They had an intimate yet lavish wedding ceremony in Mahabalipuram, near Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Many big names like Rajinikanth, Shah Rukh Khan, Ajith and Vijay Sethupathi attended their wedding. The couple then welcomed twin sons, Ulag and Uyir, via surrogacy in October 2022.
However, despite this close connection, Nayanthara and Dhanush are not on good terms with each other anymore due to her documentary. Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale is a Netflix documentary which celebrates the actress’ journey in finding her love and professional superstardom.
Recently, Nayanthara penned down an open letter for Dhanush and blasted him for refusing an NOC to use elements from their 2015 film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan. She mentioned that during the making of her Netflix documentary, she had asked for permission from Dhanush to use visuals from their 2015 movie. However, Dhanush refused to grant her permission and instead sent her a legal notice, demanding Rs 10 crore in damages. Later, Vignesh Shivan, who is the director of Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, also came out in support of her superstar wife. He shared the controversial BTS clip on his Instagram story and mocked Dhanush’s legal notice.
