Lady Superstar Nayanthara talked about the tough days she faced in the past, and how false rumours about her would greatly affect her and her parents.
Lady Superstar Nayanthara has seen her fair share of ups and downs in her acting journey. The actress opened up about her journey in the film industry, as well as her personal life, in her recently released Netflix docuseries ‘Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairytale.’ In the documentary, the actress spoke about the tough days she faced, and how false rumours about her would greatly affect her and her parents.
The actress, who made her debut with the 2003 Malayalam film Manassinakkare, went on to star in several Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu films post that. As she rose to fame, several rumours about her personal and professional life surfaced. Nayanthara talked about that time and recalled, “In the papers, there would be a piece of news about me, and I wouldn’t even be aware of what happened. Most of the time, that’s the case. And every day, for my mom and my dad to see that and to go through that whole thing was extremely difficult. And I would sit and cry the whole day. I wouldn’t eat anything. I would just lock myself in my room and cry. All this was very difficult for my mom to take it.”
At the peak of her career, Nayanthara decided to quit acting in 2011. She had faced massive backlash for playing the role of Sita, and was also linked to several personalities in the industry. It was during this time that a lot of people called her mother, advising her to get Nayanthara married. Some even said that she is ‘finished’. “There were so many people who would call my mom and say that, ‘You should do something about your daughter. You should get her married. You should figure out her life because it’s all done. She is finished. Some would say, ‘Take care of her properly, make sure she doesn’t get into trouble’,” she said.
She further added that she feels it’s okay to make mistakes, and that one can either cry about it, or get up and become so successful that the people who treated you badly feel miserable about themselves. Nayanthara chose the latter. In 2012, she made a strong comeback, and there has been no looking back for the actress since then.
In other news, Nayanthara has been hitting the headlines after she shared an open letter slamming actor-filmmaker Dhanush for refusing an NOC to use elements from their 2015 film ‘Naanum Rowdy Dhaan’ in her Netflix documentary. She wrote that Dhanush has demanded Rs 10 crore as damages for using ‘three seconds’ of behind the scenes video from Dhanush’s film in the trailer of her documentary ‘Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairytale’.
