As a surprise treat, Jin even taught Jimmy Fallon the dance moves for his viral track Super Tuna, which had the audience laughing and applauding.
On November 20, BTS’ Jin appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon for his highly awaited solo debut, bringing a mix of humour, insight and heartfelt moments as he promoted his first solo album, Happy. But amid all the excitement surrounding his solo venture, it was his story about Coldplay’s Chris Martin that had everyone talking. When Jimmy Fallon casually asked Jin, “Are you a big fan of rock? And who is your favourite rock artist?” Jin, always straightforward, answered in his native Korean, with English subtitles saying, “I really, really love Coldplay… I had a chance to work with Coldplay before. A few years ago — before this album — Chris Martin gave me a song he wrote. We worked on it together, and it was an honour for me.”
Then Fallon dropped another gem, asking, “I heard he gave you a guitar?” Jin’s face lit up as he confirmed, “Yes!” and went on to explain, “I was hanging out with Chris Martin, and he had a guitar from his tour. I jokingly asked him, ‘Can I have this guitar?’ and Chris was like, ‘Of course!’”
Jin’s excitement was palpable as he added, “I was so happy. Now it’s a family heirloom.”
While his solo album Happy and his solo era were the main focus of the night, Jin also shared some delightful BTS-related stories. He recalled his bandmates and the origin of his playful Worldwide Handsom nickname. As a surprise treat, Jin even taught Jimmy Fallon the dance moves for his viral track Super Tuna, which had the audience laughing and applauding.
But the highlight of the evening? Jin’s live performance of Running Wild is one of the standout tracks from Happy. Dressed in a shimmering pastel green fringe jacket, he delivered an impressive performance set against a desert highway backdrop, with street signs adding to the cool vibe of the stage.

Jin’s latest appearance on Fallon is particularly special as it marks his first solo promotion since completing his mandatory military service in June. This was a personal milestone for Jin, as he became the first BTS member to finish his service, with J-Hope following suit shortly after. While the band is currently on a break from full-group activities, Jin’s solo journey continues, and ARMY couldn’t be more thrilled.
