The controversy that took place during the salute at a wedding ceremony on Thursday night in the Summer Garden of Lisadi Gate police station area of Meerut created a huge uproar. What is the matter?

The marriage of Gulafsa, daughter of Summer Garden resident Farooq, was fixed with a young man resident of Rohta. The wedding procession arrived on Thursday night and after the Nikah, the ceremony of saluting the groom was going on. Meanwhile, the groom’s friend Ahad Ali and some other friends tried to reach among the women and salute.

This act displeased the girl’s side. Farooq’s nephew Faizan opposed this, due to which an altercation started between the two sides. Farooq’s relative Akbar asked Faizan to apologise, but he refused. After this the girl’s side bid farewell to the girl and Panchayat was called.

Violence and looting among Panchayat

The matter worsened during the Panchayat. A fight broke out between the two parties, in which Faizan got injured. It is alleged that during this time, the groom’s friend Ahad Ali and his companion looted a bag full of notes belonging to the girl’s father Farooq.

During the incident, some youth opened fire indiscriminately, causing a stampede in the wedding ceremony. Hearing the sound of bullets, people started running here and there. As soon as the information about the incident was received, the police reached the spot and sent the injured Faizan to the hospital for treatment.

Police said that the incident is being investigated. Both parties are being interrogated, and action will be taken against the accused. At present the condition of injured Faizan is said to be stable.
