Given the unsurmountable workload and deadlines, many corporate employees sometimes feel overwhelmed. During the rush, a healthy culture and work-life balance help workers finish their tasks efficiently without experiencing burnout. A recent announcement by a company for the holiday season has sparked anger among social media users. This is because the notice not only puts a ban on vacation days but forbids employees from taking sick leave.

“Why does corporate think this is ok? God forbid I get sick. Company doesn’t give a s**t,” the social media user wrote in the caption. The notice in the post read: “From November 25th until December 31st, there is a blackout on vacation days, and time off, and there will be no exceptions for calling off, or taking sick days. Given that these are our busiest days of the year, we will need all hands on deck. Thank you.”

While companies have always requested employees to put in extra effort during crucial business seasons such as year-end, the message to report to work even when you are sick did not sit well with netizens. The post received a lot of attention with many criticising such practices. Some users also shared similar experiences of inhumane work culture.

A user commented, “This seems like it is probably retail. I love how this sign acts like they will fire you for being sick, except here is the thing, they NEED you too. They need all hands on deck, remember? That portion of the note is a scare tactic. I’d make every effort to be there, sure. But if I had a fever or something, I’d still call in and roll the dice. It’s easier to wait on a good employee to get well than it is to hire a new one.”

Another humorously noted, “If you die, you have to inform management 3 days prior.”

One more user said, “Classic small business talk “If you don’t like it, leave. I run my business how I like.” Proceeds to leave and encounters toddler-level outburst upon giving 2 weeks notice.”

The post has received thousands of comments and upvotes since being shared.
