Tesla maker Elon Musk slammed the “ridiculously slow” and “difficult” US immigration process as he backed conservative activist Riley Gaines, who recently explained how a vaccine mandate had prevented her husband from becoming an American citizen.

Musk, who became a US citizen in 2002, has repeatedly spoken about the immigration services on his social media platform X. Gaines, meanwhile, vented on TikTok about how she had been married for more than 2.5 years now and her husband still did not have a green card, which is a document issued by the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) granting the holder permanent residency.

“Legal immigration to America is ridiculously slow & difficult, even for super talented people. Needs to be fixed,” he said on X, sharing the TikTok video by Gaines that was posted by another internet user.

Following this, Gaines reshared her own video posted by Musk and wrote: “Our immigration system needs reform across every aspect.”

ON COVID VACCINATION MANDATE

According to Gaines, the USCIS make it a tedious process for “legal immigrants” to become citizens as has been the case of her husband. She claimed that the couple had to wait for “months and months and months” before they heard from the immigration services until they finally got a letter asking for “evidence”.

She claimed that her husband moved to the US from Europe six years ago for college and came to the country legally. “We got married at the end of our senior year in 2022, meaning we’ve been married for over two-and-a-half years now. Maybe you think he’s well on his way to becoming a US citizen. And you would be wrong. After 2.5 years of marriage, he still doesn’t have his green card,” she said in the video.

She added: “If you’ve dealt with this process, I envy you. It requires so much in terms of application process, immigration lawyers, the fee that you have to pay. Months and months and months went by before we heard from USCIS or the immigration services. Until we finally got this letter in the mail.”

The former NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) swimmer said she will not be reading out the whole letter as it contained personal information. But, she said, they got a “request for evidence”.

“The evidence the immigration services was looking for was a completed vaccination record. And what vaccination did my husband not have? The Covid vaccination. Yes, you heard that right. In the year 2024, you have to have the under-researched, ineffective Covid vaccine to enter into this country legally,” she said.

ON ‘ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS’ GETTING EASY ACCESS

She further claimed that the government did not require “illegal immigrants” to be vaccinated against Covid-19 and asked viewers to think on “how hard the government has made it for people migrating into this country”.

“Legally, in comparison with those who break the law. Because if you just walk across the southern border, you’re given housing, you’re given a driver’s licence, you’re given money…” she added.

Gaines also claimed that the government had never been able to answer basic questions about Covid and the vaccine. “Like, if the masks work, why do we have to social distance? If the six-foot distance works, why do we have to wear a mask? And if both of those things work, then why the lockdowns? And if all three of those work, then why the vaccine? And if the vaccine was effective, then why the boosters? And why was Covid never bad enough to shut down the southern border?” she asked.

She closed her video by saying she and her husband, however, would make the choice to be healthy “10 days out of 10″, assuring viewers that “this craziness” will “inevitably end”.

“What good is a green card with compromised health… My husband will become a citizen and have a functioning immune system. So it’s a win-win,” she concluded.
