In an interview with CNBC Make It, Steven Guo revealed his routine: focused work in the morning, afternoon surfing, and evenings exploring Bali’s vibrant culture
The desire for a fulfilling career often clashes with the need for a balanced personal life. Many yearn for a harmonious blend of both, a sentiment echoed by industry leaders who advocate for reasonable working hours.
Amidst this ongoing debate, one young man claims to have cracked the code, earning a staggering Rs 2.5 crore annually while working just five hours a day, 30 days a week. Steven Guo, a California native now residing in Bali, Indonesia, prioritises smart work to achieve a harmonious work-life balance.
In an interview with CNBC Make It, Guo revealed his decision to relocate to Bali for this very reason. His daily routine consists of focused work in the morning, followed by afternoon surfing sessions and evenings immersed in the vibrant Balinese culture.
Guo dedicates 40% of his time to clients and product marketing strategies, reserving the remainder for personal pursuits. His journey has taken him to 15 countries before he settled in Bali.
Guo’s entrepreneurial spirit emerged at the tender age of 12 when he earned Rs 8.5 lakh in a few months as a video game player. Although his initial venture, a game development company, didn’t achieve the desired success, it taught him the crucial role of marketing.
This realisation led him to pursue business economics at the University of California. Undeterred by academic setbacks, Guo returned to the business world, eventually establishing a thriving company with a 19-person team spread across the US, UK, and the Philippines. His entrepreneurial pursuits extend further, encompassing an online date retail business and a company specialising in luxury car covers.
