Trains late due to fog
According to railway officials, fog reduces the visibility of trains, due to which the speed of trains has to be reduced for safety reasons. Ashutosh Singh, CTM (Chief Train Manager) of Kanpur Central Station, said that Railways has given instructions to use automatic signal system to control the speed of trains during fog in winter. These rules are being followed while giving priority to the safety of passengers, due to which trains are arriving late.
Signal system for speed of trains
- On green signal: The maximum speed of trains is 75 MPH.
- On yellow or double yellow signal: The speed is further reduced.
Trains arriving hours late
Due to dense fog, many trains are arriving much behind their scheduled time. The situation has become more serious in the last two days.
List of delayed trains:
- Train No. 22823: 1 hour 7 minutes
- Train No. 12301: 1 hour 8 minutes
- Train No. 12423: 1 hour 38 minutes
- Train No. 12313: 1 hour 44 minutes
- Train No. 20501: 4 hours 5 minutes
- Train No. 12033: 2 hours 30 minutes
- Train No. 12034: 3 hours 25 minutes
- Train No. 20408: 18 minutes
- Train No. 12314: 3 hours 30 minutes
- Train No. 12302: 1 hour 58 minutes
- Train No. 12310: 22 minutes
Passenger safety is priority Railway officials say that these necessary steps have been taken for the safety of passengers. However, the inconvenience caused to the passengers has been regretted.
Passengers’ reaction Many passengers expressed concern over the delay of trains, but understood that safety was given priority. At the same time, some passengers are demanding from the Railways to further improve the information system so that they can know the status of trains on time.
