AR Rahman’s son, AR Ameen, also responded to the controversy, condemning the baseless speculations.
Hours after AR Rahman and Saira Banu shocked fans by announcing their separation after 29 years of marriage, the Oscar-winning composer’s bassist Mohini Dey revealed her divorce from husband Mark Hurtsuch. The timing of these announcements sparked unfounded speculation about a connection between the two.
Breaking her silence, Mohini dismissed the rumours and urged respect for her privacy. Sharing her thoughts on Instagram, she wrote, “I’ve been getting a humongous amount of requests for interviews, and I know exactly what it’s about. I have to respectfully turn each one down because I am not interested in fueling into ABSOLUTE BS.”
She further stated, “I believe my energy is not worth spending on RUMOURS. Kindly, respect my privacy.”
The rumours were exacerbated when netizens speculated about a possible link between Rahman and Saira’s separation and Mohini’s announcement. However, Rahman’s legal team denied any such connection.
Meanwhile, Rahman’s son, AR Ameen, also responded to the controversy, condemning the baseless speculations. On Instagram, he shared a picture of a baby and Rahman, with the caption, “My father is a legend, not just for his incredible contributions, but for the values, respect, and love he has earned over the years. It’s disheartening to see false and baseless rumours being spread.”
Ameen urged people to respect his parents’ privacy and refrain from engaging in or spreading misinformation. He said, “Let us all remember the importance of truth and respect when speaking about someone’s life and legacy.”
Mohini Dey, an acclaimed bassist, has built a remarkable career collaborating with international icons like Zakir Hussain, Willow Smith, and Steve Vai, alongside her work with AR Rahman. Starting her musical journey at just nine years old, Mohini’s talent and dedication have earned her a place among the most sought-after musicians globally.
Both Mohini and Rahman’s family have categorically denied any links between their personal matters, calling for a stop to the spreading of false rumours.
