The upcoming PL mega-auction will serve as Shubman Gill’s opportunity to mold the Gujarat Titans according to his vision. Having retained five core members of their squad, primarily batters, GT lacks depth in the fast-bowling department and that could be one area where the 2022 champions splash their cash.

The 2024 season was a forgetful one for the Titans. Gill’s first outing as GT’s skipper did not pan out well, as GT failed to qualify for the playoffs after finishing in eighth position with just 12 points.

But now, former India wicketkeeper-batter, Parthiv Patel has been brought into the franchise as the new batting coach and it will be interesting to see how he helps Shubman Gill and co. get back to firing on all cylinders.

Let us now take a look at Gujarat Titans’ top five targets in the IPL 2025 Mega-Auction.

Angkrish Raghuvanshi

The youngster from Mumbai showcased glimpses of his untapped potential in the previous seasons and could be someone who benefits from having a more prominent role with the bat. In the Kolkata Knight Riders’ camp, he was overshadowed by high-profile stars and did not have much time to express himself. But with the number three batting slot seemingly up for grabs in GT, the uncapped star could be bought at a reasonable price, also making him an ideal investment in the long term.

In IPL 2024, Raghuvanshi made his debut, scoring 163 runs in the 10 games he played at an average of 23.29 and a strike-rate of 155.24 which includes one fifty. Very decent numbers for a 19-year-old who has the potential to be the next big star in Indian cricket.

Rovman Powell

GT need a fast-bowling all-rounder option and the West Indies’ T20I skipper could be the perfect man for the job. His power-hitting abilities in the middle-order coupled with his quick bowling could prove to be just what the franchise needs. He could come at a reasonable price when other franchises will be splashing the cash for the high-profile stars.

In the previous season for the Rajasthan Royals, he was not able to do much due to the success of their top order. He played nine games where he scored a total of 103 runs at an average of 17.17 and a strike rate of 151.47 and did not get to bowl a single over.

Gerald Coetzee

The South African pace-bowling all-rounder could be a good purchase for the Titans. In addition to his pace, he has also shown his ability to bat down the order, chipping in cameos if needed as well. With his pace and prowess with the new ball, coupled with his tendency to show up in the death overs, Coetzee could be GT’s go-to man in the pace-bowling department.

In the previous season, he played just 10 games where he picked up 13 wickets at an average of 26.23 and an economy of 10.18. But those figures could improve if the franchise decides to build the pace-attack around the 24-year-old.

T Natarajan

The left-arm pacer from Tamil Nadu has become a quality pace-bowling option who regularly finds success in the IPL. Having played for the Sunrisers Hyderabad for most of his IPL career, he could find a new place to call home in the Titans. With many franchises gunning for quality international-calibre players, Natarajan could be the man who goes under the radar.

In the previous season, he finished the season having played all 14 games with 19 wickets to his name at an average of 24.47 and an economy of 9.06. His ability to bowl in all three phases of an innings makes him an ideal candidate to lead the fast-bowling unit.

Arshdeep Singh

An obvious choice to lead the bowling attack. Already India’s highest wicket-taker in the T20I format, it’s no surprise if the Titans do pursue Arshdeep Singh. But the franchise could be risking using a chunk of their budget on the services of the left-arm pacer if they do not play their cards right.

Having played all the games in the 2024 season, the pacer finished the team’s highest wicket-taker with 19 wickets from the 14 games at an average of 26.58 and an economy of 10.03. But Ashish Nehra’s expertise could come in handy to help get the best out of the pacer.
