Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Claims Government Has ‘Destroyed’ His Reputation Amid Third Bail Attempt – News18
Last Updated:
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has been behind bars for over two months under the charges of sex trafficking, racketeering, and sexual abuse among others.
The ongoing legal proceedings against renowned music mogul and Bad Boy Records founder Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs continues to escalate with new charges being pressed against him quite frequently. Amid the rapper’s desperate attempt to seek bail while awaiting trial in the sex trafficking charges, Diddy has strongly condemned the prosecutors, claiming that they have been making strategies to destroy his reputation. The 55-year-old artist and entrepreneur, who has been accused of running a criminal enterprise involved in sex trafficking prostitution, and other crimes, has repeatedly insisted on the charges being untrue and pleaded not guilty.
Arguing that the charges of organising “freak-off” parties where women were allegedly drugged and forced into sexual sessions have been exaggerated and “theatrically spun,” his legal team continues to maintain that he is innocent.
“The prospect of a conviction does not materially change his incentives here, where his reputation has already been destroyed by the government’s allegations and aggressive media tactics,” his attorney stated in the filing as quoted by Marca. They also emphasised that only an acquittal can restore his previous public image.
Diddy’s Team Alleges Videos Are ‘Manipulated’
In another point of their argument in defence of Diddy, the lawyers also discredited the accusers including the rapper’s ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura. Stating that she along with another alleged victim voluntarily got intimate with him and were not coerced, they contended that the security footage showing an altercation between Diddy and Ventura was “misleading, edited and manipulated.”
These remarks come at a time when the music mogul has made a third attempt to get out of jail charge with severe charges allegations of sex racketeering, sex trafficking by force, and transportation to engage in prostitution in a sweeping indictment in September. Remaining behind bars for over two months now, he has already been denied bail twice in September and November.
Amid the rapper’s accusation against the government and the prosecutors, the presiding judge Arun Subramanian has already directed to dispose of multiple pages containing Diddy’s handwritten notes. They were originally acquired during a search at MDC Brooklyn.
