Unstoppable. Inimitable. Inevitable. Virat Kohli yet again rose from the despair of poor performances galore as he walloped a sensational century at Perth on Day 3 of the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy on Sunday.
After his untimely and unfortunate dismissal in the first innings that left fans and onlookers alike questioning the talisman batter’s abilities and age, Kohli put on a classic at Perth, slashing and dashing his way masterfully to an unbeaten century in 143 balls.

“Anushka has been right by my side through thick and thin. She knows everything that goes on behind the scenes. Knows what goes on in the head when you’re not performing well,” stated a seemingly moved Kohli, who was relishing in the moment.
“I’m not a guy who hangs around for the sake of it. I take pride in performing for the country.”
Aided by the glorious innings of opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, who put up 161 runs of his own, Kohli teamed up with debutant Nitish Reddy to put up a quick fifty partnership as he led India to 487-6, after whch skipper Jasprit Bumrah declared, setting Australia a mammoth target of 534 runs.
