Maharashtra Assembly Election concluded with declaration of results on Saturday, giving a huge majority to the Mahayuti.
The Maharashtra Assembly Elections saw as many as 21 women candidates emerging victorious in Saturday’s vote counting with only one of them coming from the Opposition, as per the poll results.
The BJP-led Mahayuti wreaked havoc on the Maha Vikas Aghadi in the polls and registered victory on 234 out of 288 seats in the state, completely decimating the Opposition.
Victorious Women Candidates From Various Parties
Most number of women candidates who won yesterday were fielded by the BJP (14), which also included 10 who were re-elected.
Shweta Mahale (Chikli constituency), Meghana Bordikar (Jintur), Devyani Farande (Nashik Central), Seema Hiray (Nashik West), Manda Mhatre (Belapur), Manisha Chaudhari (Dahisar), Vidya Thakur (Goregaon), Madhuri Misal (Parvati), Monica Rajale (Shevgaon) and Namita Mundada (Kaij) were among those who were re-elected on BJP ticket.
The four new victorious women candidates include Shreejaya Chavan (Bhokar), Sulabha Gaikwad (Kalyan East), Sneha Pandit (Vasai) and Anuradha Chavan (Fulambari).
Among those who won on the Shiv Sena ticket were Manjula Gavit (Sakri) and Sanjana Jadhav (Kannad).
Sulbha Khodke (Amravati), Saroj Ahire (Deolali), Nawab Malik’s daughter Sana Malik (Anushaktinagar), and Aditi Tatkare (Shrivardhan) won on the NCP ticket.
Opposition Woman MLA
The lone Opposition candidate to have managed to secure a win in the Mahayuti storm was Congress’ Jyoti Gaikwad (Dhavari).
In the Mahayuti wave on Saturday, Congress won only 16 seats, while its MVA allies Shiv Sena UBT won 20 and NCP-SP 10.
Among the ruling Mahayuti, the BJP won the largest chunk of seats (132, only 13 short of its own majority in Maharashtra), while allies Shiv Sena won 57 and NCP 41.
This was the first instance since 1990 that an alliance had secured over 200 seats in Maharashtra.
