Ex-One Direction singer Zayn Malik kicked off his tour on Saturday night and he did not forget to mention his ‘bro,’ late singer Liam Payne.
Zayn Malik paid a tribute to Liam Payne days after his funeral.
Singer Zayn Malik remembered his former One Direction bandmate Liam Payne during his first concert as part of his musical tour. The Pillow Talk hitmaker kicked off his “Stairway to the Sky” tour on Saturday night in O2 Academy Leeds in West Yorkshire, England. This marked his first public appearance after Liam’s funeral earlier this week. While Zayn performed his songs at the concert, One Direction fans were left emotional after they saw Zayn pay tribute to Liam at the end of the concert.
The ex-One Direction singer flashed a message on stage, with the help of a projector, remembering Liam Payne. “Love you bro (red heart emoji),” read the words along with Liam’s name and details of his date of birth and death. Check out the photo below:
The gesture has left One Direction fans, aka Directioners, emotional. “This is so wholesome but sad at the same time💔,” a fan wrote. “What a beautiful First show and Zayn was amazing and his vocals omg but then leave this tribute just make me cry all over my prayer are with Zayn tonight as he tour too,” added another. “Zayn’s tribute to Liam just hit different. This is real love and respect,” a comment read. “I can`t even imagine what he felt at that moment,” another fan added.
Earlier this week, Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan reunited to pay their last respects to Liam Payne at his funeral. The funeral was held on the outskirts of London and photos of the four singers attending it went viral. Fans were heartbroken by this reunion.

Liam Payne passed away on October 16, 2024, after falling from the third floor of a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Autopsy reports revealed that the singer had alcohol, cocaine, and a prescription antidepressant in his system at the time of his death. Police officials are now investigating drugs angle in Payne’s death and three people have been arrested as of now.
