Vaibhav Suryavanshi became the youngest player to be sold in the Indian Premier League auctions as Rajasthan Royals got him for Rs 1.1 crore.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi became the youngest players ever to be sold in the Indian Premier League auctions after being sold to Rajasthan Royals at the IPL mega auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Monday.
RR fought off advances from Delhi Capitals to get him for Rs 1.1 crore.
Who is Vaibhav Suryavanshi?
Vaibhav was born on March 27, 2011 in Tajpur village, He started his cricketing journey at the age of four when his father Sanjeev, a farmer, built a smal playing area in their backyard. His father enrolled him in a cricket academy in the nearby town of Samastipur ahed nine and the rest as they is history.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi had made headlines when he put his name among those to have registered themselves for the IPL 2025 mega auction.
Coming from a small village in Bihar, Vaibhav made his first-class debut at just 13 years old for the state of Bihar in the Ranji Trophy Elite Group B clash against Mumbai in January 2024.
Suryavanshi also lit up the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai to strike a fantastic century for India’s U19 side who took on Australia’s U19 team in a youth Test. The youngster ended his knock at 104 runs in 62 deliveries. He also became the youngest ever to score a century in the youth Test format.
In addition to this, he also becomes the second fastest centurion in the youth Test format and also the fastest ton by an Indian in the format.
Suryavanshi, talked about as a prodigy, made his T20 debut for Bihar in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy against Rajasthan on Saturday and made a 6-ball 13 before falling to Deepak Chahar.
