Measles Rubella Catchup campaign was started from Monday in seven blocks of Kanpur, Bhitargaon, Bidhnu, Chaubepur, Ghatampur, Patara, Sarsaul, Chaubepur and urban areas. In this campaign, all the children who have been left out of MR vaccine will be vaccinated.

Measles Rubella is a deadly disease of small children

CMO said that measles rubella is a very serious and fatal disease of small children. After contracting this disease, the probability of a child’s death increases to 90 percent. To prevent this disease, it is necessary that every child be given two doses of MR vaccine. After taking both the doses, the child becomes 100% protected from this disease.

10251 children have been deprived of vaccination

District Immunization Officer Dr. UB Singh said that seven blocks and urban areas of the district are sensitive to measles. Of all these, 10251 children have been deprived of vaccination. To protect these children identified during the survey from serious diseases, the exercise of vaccinating them against rubella and measles has started from Monday.

He said that children aged between nine to 12 months will be given the first vaccine and children aged between 16 to 24 months will be given the second vaccine.

This is especially dangerous for girls

The District Immunization Officer said that measles is a dangerous disease, which can cause serious problems like fever, rashes and pneumonia. Rubella virus is especially dangerous for girls. If a girl gets rubella infection in childhood, the risk of congenital rubella syndrome (CRS) in her baby increases during subsequent pregnancy.
