In the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly elections, Aaditya Thackeray had won from Worli constituency by a margin of more than 89,000 votes.
Aaditya Thackeray, the son of Shiv Sena (UBT) Chief Uddhav Thackeray, won the Worli seat by 8,801 votes against Rajya Sabha MP and Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena leader Milind Deora in the recently concluded Maharashtra Assembly elections.
The Thackeray scion secured 63,324 votes in his home bastion, while Deora got 54,523. The politically significant constituency, which falls under South Mumbai Lok Sabha seat, has been a strong Shiv Sena bastion since the 1990s.
The high-profile assembly constituency and traditional bastion of erstwhile Shiv Sena saw a three-corner fight. Aaditya Thackeray of Shiv Sena (UBT) and Milind Deora of Eknath Shinde faction of Shiv Sena were seen as main rivals. Raj Thackeray’s Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) candidate Sandeep Deshpande emerged as the third contender.

Aaditya Thackeray: His Education and How He Started His Political Career
Aaditya Thackeray was born on June 13, 1990, in Mumbai, and grew up there. He completed his early education at the Bombay Scottish School in Mahim. Aaditya Thackeray holds a BA History degree from St. Xavier’s College in Mumbai. Following that, the junior Thackeray completed his LL.B.
His debut collection of poems, ‘My Thoughts in White and Black’, was released in 2007. The next year, he became a lyricist and released his album Ummeed, for which he wrote all the eight songs.
Aaditya Thackeray has been serving as the head of Yuva Sena, the youth wing of Shiv Sena, since 2010. He also served as President of the Mumbai District Football Association between 2017 and 2023.
The younger leader’s victory in 2019 state polls broke the tradition of a Thackeray family member not contesting any election. On December 30, 2019, he was appointed as Cabinet Minister for Tourism, Protocol and Environment in the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government led by his father and then Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.
