The entire country is gearing up to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Constitution of India on November 26. The Union government has made elaborate plans to celebrate Constitution Day on November 26.
The Constitution came into force on January 26, 1950. However, the Constituent Assembly adopted the Constitution of India on November 26, 1949. The celebration of Constitution Day marks the commemoration of this momentous occasion.
The adoption of the Constitution of India marked the culmination of years of hard work of the Constitution Drafting Committee, which was headed by Dr BR Ambedkar.

Dr BR Ambedkar was one of India’s greatest statesmen and the undisputed leader of the country’s Dalits. He was known for championing the cause of social justice. As the chairman of the drafting committee, he was responsible for presenting the draft Constitution, answering various questions raised on it, and making necessary changes according to the suggestions of the Constituent Assembly. Due to his contributions towards making the Indian Constitution, he earned the title of the Father of the Indian Constitution.
Dr Ambedkar highlighted the importance of fundamental rights as a basis of democracy. He played a crucial role in ensuring that the Constitution included provisions to protect the rights and freedoms of all citizens, regardless of their caste, creed, or colour.
