Popular actress Bhagyashree is back in the headlines, this time not for her films or personal life but for a touching cause. In a heartwarming gesture, the actress participated in a charitable cause in the United States, raising funds for Smile Foundation India, which is dedicated to empowering underprivileged children and women.
Taking part in the touching cause in Amarillo, Bhagyashree auctioned one of her stunning sarees to raise funds for the organisation. The masterpiece she picked for the cause featured a gorgeous green drape that further came with ruffled and pleated elements. Radiating class, the saree was auctioned for an incredible $5,000 which is nearly Rs 4.2 lakh.
Bhagyashree also expressed happiness and gratitude for being a part of the meaningful initiative, reported Bollywood Bubble. She also applauded the work being done by Smile Foundation to improve lives. Besides earning love and fame for her performances on-screen, the actress is often celebrated among fans for her kindness and dedication to helping the needy.
Bhagyashree earlier made headlines this year in August when her iconic film Maine Pyar Kiya, featuring Salman Khan, re-released in theatres after 35 years. The Sooraj Barjatya film was released in 1989. Upon the re-release, Bhagyashree shared her excitement in a conversation with News18 saying she was ‘beyond thrilled’ to see the reaction of today’s generation to the film.
Bhagyahsree said, “To think that a whole new generation will experience the magic of Maine Pyar Kiya onscreen is just incredible! It’s a timeless love story and to have it connect with young hearts today is like watching the film come alive again. I’m eager to see how Gen-Z resonates with the pure, simple romance we portrayed.”
Recalling the impact of the film on her life, the actress added, “It was life-changing for me in every sense. Personally, it made me a household name, and professionally, it opened up doors I never imagined.”
