The daughter-in-law of the son of a retired professor from BHU, Varanasi broke the marriage due to lack of family harmony. After the daughter’s decision, her parents and in-laws who came to her house threatened the retired professor. First he said wrong things at home and later he got caught in a false case.

She also kept the family jewelery given by the professor as part of her engagement and has been accused of usurping it. The victim has filed a complaint in Bhelupur police station and has accused her parents and brother along with her future daughter-in-law and demanded action from the police.
Ravindrapuri resident Prof. Satish Chandra Mata told that he is retired from BHU and now lives with his family after getting a house built. His son Shubham works in Bangalore and recently he got acquainted with a girl from Lucknow, Riya. According to the professor, Riya from Lucknow also lived in Bangalore.
After their acquaintance, there was talk of their marriage and the relationship was finalized in a ceremony organized in Lucknow on 12th July. The groom’s side had presented jewelery worth Rs 20 lakh among the family members. After two months, the behavior of Riya and her family changed.
After this Riya started abusing Prof. Satish Chandra Mata’s wife and son Shubham. Riya put a condition of living separately from the family after marriage and talked about permanently settling in Bangalore with Shubham. Angered by this, the professor’s family reached Lucknow on 15 October to break the marriage.
Riya called her relatives and wrote to them to break the marriage. On October 23, Riya’s father Ranil Nair came to Ravindrapuri and became aggressive in the conversation. They started threatening to implicate her in a false case if she did not marry. Prof. Satish returned after insulting Chandra Mata and his wife and did not even return the jewellery. After this the professor has filed a complaint and registered a case.
