Kamalendra Tripathi (47), resident of Geeta Nagar, Kakadev, had reached MS Palace Hotel located in Harbansh Mohal (between Express Road and Ghantaghar) along with his girlfriend Shashi Sonkar, resident of Mandhana, at around 10 am on Wednesday morning. Where both of them booked room number 8 by giving their ID.

She came to the reception and said that the people who had come with me had fallen.

ACP Collectorganj Mohsin Khan said that during interrogation in the hotel, it was revealed that Kamalendra’s female friend came to the reception at 11 in the morning. He said, look, those who came with me have fallen. When the hotel staff reached the room, Kamalendra was lying there. Those people came down. By then the woman had left from there.

When a memo was made from the hospital, the police got the information.

Inspector Harbanshmohal Vikram Singh said that the hotel staff took Kamalendra to Ursala Hospital before informing the police. When declared dead in the hospital. Even then no one informed the police. When the body was admitted to the mortuary. After that made a memo and reached the police station. Only then could the police get information. Then the forensic team, Harbanshmohal police station and ACP Collectorganj Mohsin Khan reached the spot and conducted investigation.

Forensic team found liquor bottle

When the forensic team investigated room number 8, they found a liquor bottle which was more than half empty. The team has taken its sample for testing. Apart from this, samples of bed sheets etc. have also been taken in Kamle.

Wife left me 22 years ago, now she says I don’t know anything

Police spoke to Kamalendra’s wife. So he refused to say anything in this matter. He said that we had separated 22 years ago. they have three children. The police have called the children themselves for questioning. On which he said that he will come in the morning. However, the police has not received any complaint in this matter. After this, the police reached Mandhana at the address of Shashi Sonkar as per her Aadhaar card, but the woman could not be found there either. The police is searching for him.

Liquor bottle found from hotel

The forensic team that reached the spot found half a bottle of liquor during the search in room number 8 of the hotel. Apart from this, some cigarette butts and empty glasses were also found. Which the team has kept with itself as evidence.

In this matter, ACP Collectorganj Mohsin Khan said that the woman who had come could not be traced. The family of the deceased has been called. The situation will become clear after the post-mortem of the dead body. After that further action will be taken.

Will issue notice to hotels

Additional CP Law and Order Harish Chander said that a notice will be issued to all the hotels coming to Kanpur Police Commissionerate to give rooms only after checking the ID properly. Apart from this, in case of any incident, inform the police first.
