So I opened the doors of my big house to the children living in the slums and on the footpaths around there. They started coming there and with my little efforts, smiles started appearing on their faces. He started reading and playing. After office hours, I would spare time to teach him and also play with him. While saying this, Ilma became emotional and said – Overall, I performed my responsibility with lakhs of people of my Baddi district with great hard work, honesty and integrity.

Told the girl students – Whatever you become, India first feeling should remain in your heart. Ilma Afroz, who came to address the students in a college in Moradabad, said, you can become whatever you want but one feeling should always remain in your heart and that is – India First. We should never say that our nation is supreme for us. First is our country, then we are there. Ilma also called for Jai Hind from the students.

I decided to work in the UN, so I worked there. After this, I decided to get a job in America, New York City, and I achieved that too. After this, when she decided to do something for the country, she got selected in the Indian Police Service after appearing in the Civil Services Examination. If I can do all this without being among you, then you too can do it.

Who is Ilma Afroz? Ilma Afroz is a resident of Kundarki town of Moradabad district. She is a 2017 batch IPS officer of Himachal cadre. Ilma is the Superintendent of Police of Baddi district in Himachal. Ilma is on leave since November 13 after a clash with Congress MLA from Doon in Himachal Pradesh, Ramkumar Choudhary. On November 13, Ilma Baddi’s SP Bungalow had come to her home in Kundarki, Moradabad with her mother along with her books and personal belongings. He is here since then. Ilma’s holidays were ending on 21st November. But he has extended his leave.

Challans issued for MLA’s wife’s vehicles

According to media reports, Ilma took charge of SP in Baddi district of Himachal on 7 January 2024. In August 2024, his conflict with Doon MLA Ramkumar Chaudhary started. Ilma issued challans to the MLA’s wife’s vehicles on charges of illegal mining.

This made the MLA angry. He made serious allegations against SP during the assembly session. At the same time, SP was given a notice of breach of privilege through the privilege motion of the Assembly.

After this, SP Ilma Afroz did not attend the program on 15th August. The MLAs were very angry with this also. After this, when the State Industries Minister went to visit the SP office, the MLA did not accompany him. After the challan of the MLA’s wife’s vehicles, the government was preparing to transfer her to the SP, but in the sexual exploitation case of Nalagarh, the High Court has handed over the responsibility of investigation to Ilma. The High Court has put a stay on the transfer till the status report is given. A hearing in this matter is to be held in the court on November 30. Therefore he was sent on long leave.

Allegations of giving gun licenses to Muslim community found false in RTI

After the political conflict, Baddi SP Ilma Afroz was accused of giving gun licenses in bulk to Muslims. However, these were found to be baseless. An RTI (Right to Information) has revealed that in his tenure of about 9 months, the SP has done police verification of only 2 gun licenses of Muslim applicants.

During her posting in Baddi, Ilma Afroz got police verification done for a total of 50 gun licenses, out of which 48 licenses belonged to applicants from the majority community. Of the two licenses belonging to the minority community which were verified by the SP, one license was for family security, while the other was taken for self-defense.

This has been revealed in the report sought by Mandi’s RTI activist Arvind Kumar. In response to RTI, it has been told that the decision to grant gun license is taken by the ADC (Additional District Magistrate) office. SP Ilma had sent all these gun licenses to the ADC office for verification.

On these allegations, SP Ilma Afroz had said – Police does not have the authority to make gun licenses. This work is done by the district administration. In the applications related to gun license that come to us through SDM, we verify the character of the candidate and send it to the District Magistrate’s office. We have no role in granting or not granting gun license.

Ilma told the students that whatever you become, keep the feeling in your heart that the country comes first.

Had reached Shimla for meeting with CM

Ilma Afroz had reached Shimla on Wednesday to attend the DC-SP meeting chaired by Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu. Here he met some leaders and senior police officers. Ilma Afroz returned the same day. Ilma Afroz has vacated her government residence in Himachal and has come to her native village Kundarki with her mother.
