Lalit Modi is the founder of IPL. He started this franchise league in 2008.
IPL founder Lalit Modi has said in a podcast that umpire fixing used to happen in the tournament. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) owner N Srinivasan used to appoint Chennai umpires in CSK matches. He had even fixed an auction to buy England’s Andrew Flintoff.
Modi revealed this in a podcast with YouTuber Raj Shamani. Modi had left India in 2010, saying he had left the country because of death threats from underworld don Dawood Ibrahim. However, during this time, BCCI had also accused him of fraud of Rs 253 crore. There was also talk of Modi and Bollywood actress Sushmita Sen dating in July 2022.
Flintoff was certain to go to Chennai Raj Shamani releases video podcast with Lalit Modi on YouTube. In this, Modi said that before the 2009 IPL, England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff registered his name in the auction. Then CSK owner and BCCI Secretary N Srinivasan said that Flintoff should go to his team only.
Modi then asked the other teams not to bid for Flintoff in the auction. The same happened in the auction and Flintoff was bought by CSK for $1.55 million. At that time, bidding in the auction was done in dollars.
Lalit Modi said on social media that for the first time he has spoken so much truth about IPL.
Srinivasan also fixed the umpires Lalit Modi further said, Srinivasan had even fixed the umpire in IPL. He had appointed Chennai umpires for the matches of Chennai Super Kings. Srinivasan believed that IPL would not be successful. When the tournament became successful, he himself started fixing umpires.
BCCI had accused him of fraud in 2010 Lalit Modi was the Vice President of BCCI till 2010. He was expelled from the BCCI after that year’s final between Mumbai and Chennai. BCCI accused him of fraud of Rs 253 crore. Srinivasan was then BCCI Secretary.
N Srinivasan was the Chairman of BCCI from 2011 to 2014.
