Mumbai recorded the lowest temperature in November since 2016 as the temperature dropped to 16.8 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, November 27. Earlier, 16.3 degrees Celsius was recorded on November 11, 2016. According to weather officials, Mumbai’s temperature may decrease further between November 28 and 29.
Mumbai residents endured intense heat and heavy rain this year, leaving them longing for cooler weather. Despite the humidity, the desired chill remained elusive until recently. Currently, a comfortable atmosphere has settled over the city.
The IMD’s Santacruz observatory registered a minimum temperature of 16.8 degrees Celsius, 3.8 degrees lower than the normal temperature. Meanwhile, the Colaba observatory recorded a temperature of 22.5 degrees Celsius, 0.6 degrees below normal.
Furthermore, Mumbai recorded maximum temperatures of 32.4 degrees Celsius and 33.6 degrees Celsius at the Colaba and Santacruz observatories, respectively, on Tuesday. These figures were 1.2 degrees and 0.3 degrees below normal.
Mumbai’s maximum temperature is predicted to be 33 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, November 27, with a minimum temperature of around 17 degrees Celsius.
“The cold weather has started early this year. Northerly winds are responsible for this. Now the temperature is expected to drop further by November 28-29. After that the temperature will increase. But the weather will remain cold,” Sushma Nair, Scientist at the India Meteorological Department, Mumbai, said.
Earlier, on November 19, 1950, the city recorded the highest minimum temperature for November, reaching 13.3 degrees Celsius.
