Speaking about her decision, Sreeleela said, “The song itself will justify my choice. It’s not your typical item song. There’s a strong narrative reason behind it, which will become clear when the movie releases.”
Composed by Devi Sri Prasad, Kissik has already become a talking point. While fans compare it to Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s iconic Oo Antava from Pushpa: The Rise, Sreeleela’s electrifying moves and the song’s energetic beats have helped it stand apart. Within 12 hours of its launch, the track amassed a staggering 17.7 million views, breaking records and setting high expectations for the sequel.
Addressing speculation about her remuneration for the song, Sreeleela responded with humour, saying, “We haven’t even discussed the remuneration with the producers yet.” Reports had suggested she was paid Rs 2 crore for the number, compared to the Rs 5 crore Samantha reportedly received for Pushpa: The Rise song Oo Antava. Sreeleela, however, downplayed the rumours.
Fans and critics alike have shared mixed reactions to the song. While some continue to draw comparisons to Oo Antava, others praise Kissik for its distinct energy and innovative choreography. Regardless of the debate, it’s evident that Kissik has generated massive anticipation for Pushpa 2: The Rule.
The sequel, directed by Sukumar, features Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, and Fahadh Faasil in lead roles. Scheduled to release on December 5, 2024, the film has been making waves with its grand promotional campaigns and star-studded cast. With Kissik already a chartbuster, audiences are eagerly awaiting how it fits into the narrative of the much-anticipated film.
