Complaints were being received about the use of rubber and plastic etc. for cooking jaggery on sugarcane crushers running in Baraut tehsil area of Baghpat. On which DM Baghpat formed two teams and gave instructions to raid Khandsari and sugarcane crushers.
On Thursday, Assistant Environment Engineer Meerut Yogesh Kumar Mishra, Khandsari Inspector Baghpat Manoj Kumar Pathak, Food Safety Officer Baraut Yajnadutt Arya raided sugarcane crushers running in villages like Tikri, Maujizabad Nangal, Pusar, Nangla Rava, Doghat, Bijrol, Bamnauli etc.
The team took samples of Khandsari sugar from Udham Khand and Jaggery Industry Nangal of Azad. Sugar sample was taken from Shivakumar’s crusher in Nangla Rava. At the same time, licenses for applying color to jaggery and Khandsari and food were not issued on sugarcane crushers and were given by the pollution department. A warning was given of action if the guidelines were not followed. Told that raids will be conducted on crushers from time to time.
