Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Varun Dhawan celebrated the success of their Prime Video series Citadel: Honey Bunny at a grand party in Mumbai. The event, held at Virat Kohli’s restaurant One8 Commune, saw a star-studded guest list, including Varun’s wife Natasha Dalal, Avneet Kaur, Nimrat Kaur, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Gulshan Devaiah, among others.
Samantha took to Instagram to share moments from the bash, including a sweet picture with Varun. In one video, Varun was seen feeding cake to Samantha. Samantha captioned the post, “A beautiful evening spent with the loveliest people, my heart overflowing with gratitude.” Varun responded in the comments, “Best co-star ever,” showing his admiration for Samantha.
At the party, Samantha looked stunning in a beaded top over a skin-tone bodysuit paired with black wide-legged pants and wavy hair. Varun kept it casual yet stylish in a light blue t-shirt, blazer, and ivory pants.
Samantha’s portrayal of Honey in Citadel: Honey Bunny has been met with critical acclaim, but the actress has been candid about the challenges she faced while working on the series, particularly after being diagnosed with myositis, an autoimmune disorder that weakens muscles. In an interview with Galatta India, she revealed that at one point, she requested the directors, Raj and DK, to replace her due to her health struggles.
“I was absolutely fine when I got the opportunity to play Honey. I was overjoyed. But a few months later, I was the same person who requested Raj and DK to please choose another heroine to play Honey,” Samantha shared. She even suggested other actresses like Kiara Advani and Kriti Sanon, believing they would be better suited for the action-packed role. However, Raj and DK reassured her, saying, “Yeah, we know them, you don’t have to introduce us.”
Samantha admitted to feeling overwhelmed and doubted her ability to perform. But she found strength in the support she received from the directors and her team. “Sometimes when God puts you in extraordinarily difficult circumstances, He gives you a life jacket. Raj, DK, and Sita Menon were mine. Their belief in me got me off my bed and fighting every day,” she revealed.
