The pilot, who spoke to her mother and aunt moments before her family got the news of her death, was allegedly murdered, claimed her family.
Air India Pilot Srishti Tuli, who allegedly died by suicide in Mumbai, had made a video call to her boyfriend Aditya Pandit before taking the drastic step, said Mumbai Police sources on Friday.
Tuli, 25, was found dead in her flat at Marol on Monday, November 25. The Mumbai Police arrested 27-year-old Pandit under charges related to abetting the suicide of his girlfriend.
Tuli and Pandit reportedly had a heated argument, following which he decided to leave for Delhi, despite being requested to stay for a few more days with her, said police sources aware of the details emerging in the ongoing investigation.
After he refused to stay in Mumbai, Tuli allegedly warned him saying she would commit suicide, and when Aditya didn’t pay attention, she made a video call to him to show she was going to take the drastic step.
Police Searching For Deleted Chats
Pandit allegedly deleted some chats that he had with Tuli, said the police. As the interrogation widened, he reportedly informed police that he had warned Tuli that he too would die if she committed suicide.
The police are now trying to recover some of the deleted chats between both of them and the suspect’s phone has been sent to forensic experts, they said.
There were around 10 calls between the two before she allegedly killed herself, according to the police sources. Several missed calls were also found on Tuli’s phone.
Pandit had claimed that while heading back to Tuli’s home, he called her multiple times to stop her from taking any drastic step. He said when he found Tuli’s house locked, he asked held from another woman pilot and called a locksmith to open the door. The second pilot involved in the scene is also being interrogated.
Tuli’s Family Alleges Murder
The pilot, who spoke to her mother and aunt moments before her family got the news of her death, was allegedly murdered, claimed her family, accusing Pandit of abusing, harassing and manipulating her.
“Police are saying she died by suicide. Then what did he do that pushed her to the edge? She cheerfully spoke to her mother and aunt. And 15 minutes later, she was dead. How did this happen? What did he tell her? What did he do? Police are probing this,” Srishti’s uncle Vivek Tuli was quoted as saying by NDTV.
The family also alleged that Pandit took money from Tuli and stopped her from eating non-vegetarian food. Further investigation into the matter is underway to unearth the truth and bring justice to the victim.
