Objective and Theme of TGC 2024
The main objective of this year’s competition is to provide an opportunity to the youth of India to participate in various aspects of governance and policy making. In this important phase of the development journey from ‘India@75 to India@100’, the competition inspired the youth for governance reforms. In the competition organized on the topic ‘Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Governance’, the question asked was ‘How can the Government of Uttar Pradesh leverage Artificial Intelligence in Governance to improve service delivery in the state?’ India is emerging as a global artificial intelligence (AI) leader today. The event provided an opportunity to the participants to understand how AI based solutions can improve government functioning. Uttar Pradesh has played a leading role in innovation in governance through its Smart City initiative and AI hubs. This competition took a step forward towards promoting the use of AI in the state.

Students from 30 leading business schools and public policy schools participated in the first round of ‘Campus Round’, ‘National Round’ and ‘Summit Round’. In these, 3,346 teams and a total of 10,038 students presented their views on governance challenges. After the Campus Round, 30 winning teams got the opportunity to compete in the National Round. In this round, students presented their ideas before government officials and industry experts. Which were evaluated by the jury on the basis of novelty and implementation feasibility of their solution. The top 6 teams after the National Round entered the final round of the Summit.
The finalist teams presented their solutions in the summit round of TGC 2024. The jury included prominent officials of the Uttar Pradesh government such as Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh and Advisor to the Chief Minister Avnish Awasthi. The contestants also had the opportunity to interact with a panel of development sector leaders and receive personal guidance from senior industry executives.
The finalist teams also got the opportunity to be a part of a two-day field visit. In this he gained a deep understanding of governance at the grassroots level. During this, the students also visited the changes and smart city projects made by the government in different districts of Uttar Pradesh.
The winning students of TGC 2024 received a total cash prize of Rs 9,00,000, gifts, certificates and an opportunity for personal Pre-Placement Interview (PPI). Additionally, each winning team also received recognition and recognition as per their solution.
