Scolded for Rs 500, sold for Rs 80 lakh: Rewa’s Kuldeep will play for Punjab team in IPL; Father does cutting for 70 rupees – Rewa News

International fast bowler Kuldeep Sen, who comes from Rewa, has been included in his team by Punjab team by purchasing him for Rs 80 lakh in the IPL 2025 auction. Kuldeep’s base price in the auction was Rs 75 lakh.

Kuldeep’s father Rampal Sen runs a small salon in Rewa. He says that no matter how big my son reaches or how much money he earns, I will not leave my work. Even though my son has joined the Punjab team for Rs 80 lakh, even today I do hair cutting for Rs 70 and save for Rs 50. I want to maintain my simplicity throughout my life. I want to live like a common man. He said-

Kuldeep did not tell about playing cricket at home for a year. He used to leave school quietly. When he was selected for Under-19 in the district level tournament, he told at home. When this thing was suddenly told to all of us, we were surprised. At the same time we came to know about his inclination towards cricket.

Father scolded me for asking for Rs 500 Rampal says that Kuldeep had to go from Rewa to Singrauli to play. He did not come and talk to me directly. He told his mother- I have to go to Singrauli to play a match, get 500 rupees from father.

I used to have a small hair cutting shop. Earning of Rs 500 is not possible in a day. Every rupee had great importance. I thought we send him to school to study but he is spending time playing instead of studying. On top of that, now money will also be wasted in the game, after which I scolded him severely.

Wanted to become a batsman, became a fast bowler Kuldeep had gone to learn batting from his coach Aryl Anthony but Aryl advised him that you should bowl. Following the coach’s advice, he started bowling and became expert in it. The coach told that Kuldeep came from a poor family. For this reason he did not charge fees.

Chennai Super Kings was bidding to include Kuldeep Sen in their team but Punjab Kings made a bigger bid than that. Earlier, Kuldeep had performed brilliantly while playing for Rajasthan Royals.

Kuldeep Sen has been included in the Punjab squad for IPL 2025.

Started with Ranji in 2018 Kuldeep Sen is expert in bowling at a speed of 140 kmph. Due to his tall height and being a fast bowler, he remains a topic of discussion in the field. Kuldeep made his ODI debut for India in December 2022 against Bangladesh. They are also known as Revanchal Express.

Kuldeep Sen, a right-arm medium fast bowler, was born on 28 October 1996 in village Hariharpur of Rewa district. He started playing cricket at the age of 13. Under the guidance of Rewa Division coach Aryl Anthony, Kuldeep sharpened his bowling skills. Due to his excellent performance in divisional matches, he got a place in Madhya Pradesh’s Ranji team in November 2018.

Kuldeep had performed brilliantly while playing for Rajasthan Royals.

Father said- I will spend my life like this Kuldeep’s father Rampal Sen says that my son is playing international cricket, but I never feel that I have become a big man. I have always lived my life in poverty and less resources. Even today I like to live simply. No matter how big my son reaches, I am not going to close my shop.

Even today I do hair cutting and shaving with my own hands. I try to work at low prices. I like to live this kind of life. I have also told my son that I am going to live among my people like before.
