Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s father, Joseph Prabhu, passed away on Friday. Confirming the heartbreaking news, Samantha shared a simple yet touching tribute on Instagram, writing, “Until we meet again, Dad.” While the cause of his death remains undisclosed, fans have been offering their condolences to the actress and her family.
Born in Chennai to Joseph and Ninette Prabhu, Samantha Ruth Prabhu grew up in a close-knit family alongside her two older brothers, Jonathan and David. Despite Samantha’s rise to stardom, Joseph largely stayed away from the limelight. In 2023, when a fan questioned his absence from public appearances with Samantha, Joseph replied on Facebook, “I don’t like to be seen with celebs.”
Joseph had also publicly expressed his emotions during key moments of Samantha’s life. After her divorce from Naga Chaitanya in 2021, he shared a heartfelt post featuring throwback pictures from their wedding. He wrote, “Long long ago, there was a story. And it doesn’t exist anymore!! So, let’s start a new story and a new chapter.”
Samantha and Naga Chaitanya tied the knot in a grand wedding in Goa on October 6, 2017, but parted ways amicably four years later. As Samantha continues to focus on her career, Naga Chaitanya is preparing to marry actress Sobhita Dhulipala.
On the professional front, Samantha was recently seen in Raj & DK’s web series Citadel: Honey Bunny, co-starring Varun Dhawan. She attended the show’s success party just a day before her father’s passing. In the series, Samantha delivered a gritty performance as a spy, proving her mettle in action-packed sequences and emotionally charged scenes.
