Poland’s five-time Grand Slam champion Iga Swiatek has accepted a one-month doping suspension after testing positive for the banned substance trimetazidine (TMZ). The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) made this announcement on Thursday. Inga is the second number player in the women’s tennis ranking.

Inga was tested positive for drugs during a tournament in August. The ITIA accepted the 23-year-old Poland player’s explanation that it was unintentional. Inga was taking this over-the-counter medicine ‘melatonin’ for jet lag and sleep problems. The ITIA said his level of fault was at the lowest end of the negligence spectrum.

Janik Sinner also failed doping test This is the second recent doping case in tennis. Earlier, Janik Sinner, who was on top of the rankings, had failed the test for steroids in March. Iga, 23, tested positive for trace amounts of TMZ in an out-of-competition sample taken before the Cincinnati Open on August 12.
