‘Because Of His…’: Dinesh Karthik Explains Why Yashasvi Jaiswal Is A Very Special Player – News18

Yashasvi Jaiswal, who made his Test debut for India against the West Indies in July last year, scored 161 runs in the second innings of the Perth Test against Australia.
Yashasvi Jaiswal failed to open his account in the first inning of the first Test against Australia, which was played at Optus Stadium in Perth from November 22 to 25. But in the second inning, the left-handed batter bounced back and hammered 161 runs to finish as the top scorer. Jaiswal, who made his Test debut for India last year in July against the West Indies during the Test match played at Roseau, earned big praise for his super show with the bat in Perth from fans and cricket experts around the world.
The 22-year-old cricketer from Mumbai is India’s highest-ranked batter in Tests, and in the latest ICC ranking released on Wednesday, he moved to No. 2 position. Impressed by Jaiswal’s consistent performances with the bat in international cricket, many fans believe that he is the big thing in Indian cricket.
During the recent episode of Cricbuzz’s HeyCB with DK show, former Indian wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik was also asked about Jaiswal by a fan who said, “Can we say Jaiswal is next Tendulkar in making?” In reply to the question, Karthik said, “I personally feel he (Jaiswal) is truly a one special player for Team India now.”
The member of India’s 2007 T20 World Cup-winning team then explained what makes Jaiswal a special player and separates him from the rest.
“I think Yashasvi Jaiswal is a very special player purely because of his attitude. The kind of determination he has sets him apart from the rest.”
“I wouldn’t like to compare him to anyone else. He is the best version of Yashasvi Jaiswal, and with every passing day, my respect for him just keeps increasing because I genuinely thought the Australian series would be a tough start for him. But in Perth, after getting out the way he did in the first inning, to come out there and get that 100, hat’s off to him. Brilliant,” Karthik added.
Jaiswal is only the third Indian batter in history to score a century on his maiden Test in Australia. By scoring 161 runs in the second inning, the 22-year-old batter broke legendary Sunil Gavaskar’s record of highest individual score by an Indian batter on his maiden Test Down Under.
