Actress Divya Prabha, known for her role as a young Malayali nurse, Anu, in Payal Kapadia’s film All We Imagine As Light, has spoken out about the controversy surrounding a leaked nude scene from the movie. The scene, which went viral on social media, has drawn significant attention and criticism.

In an interview, Divya expressed her frustration, calling the incident “really pathetic.” She admitted she had expected such a reaction but condemned the negativity and invasion of privacy. Reflecting on the situation, she said, “It’s disheartening to see creative expressions being taken out of context and sensationalised.”

The film, directed by Payal Kapadia, is celebrated for its delicate exploration of human emotions and relationships, with Divya’s performance earning praise for its realism. Unfortunately, the focus on the leaked scene has detracted from the artistic vision of the movie. Actress Divya Prabha reacted to the comments that she did the scene for fame. She said she does not need to strip naked to earn fame.

“We celebrate filmmakers like Yorgos Lanthimos and even honor actresses who win Oscars for their roles in such films, yet we remain intolerant when Malayali women take on similar roles,” said Divya Prabhu. She expressed optimism, adding, “It’s encouraging to see some, especially men, standing against this invasion of privacy. It shows there’s hope in the younger generation.”

Divya also highlighted, “The people who shared the leaked videos make up only a small fraction of the population, around 10 percent, and I can’t comprehend their mindset. It’s worth noting that Malayalis were part of the Central Board that approved the film. As an actor, I take on roles I believe in, and I was fully convinced about my character in this movie. Some have accused me of doing the nude scene for fame, but I’ve already gained recognition through multiple awards and critically acclaimed films.”
