Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday condoled the demise of Indian researcher and author Dr Prithwindra Mukherjee, saying that he was a multifaceted personality who left a strong mark in the intellectual world.
“Dr. Prithwindra Mukherjee was a multifaceted personality, leaving a strong mark in the intellectual world. He was also passionate about music and poetry. His works and compositions will continue to be admired for years to come. Equally noteworthy were his efforts to preserve India’s history, especially during the freedom struggle and to deepen India-France ties. Pained by his demise. Condolences to his family and friends. Om Shanti,” PM Modi said in a post on X.

Dr Prithwindra retired in 2003 as a researcher in the Human and Social Sciences Department (Ethnomusicology) of the French National Centre of Scientific Research in Paris. He was an author of a number of books and other publications on various subjects.
He was conferred with Padma Shri 2020 for his work in the field of literature and education.
