Dia Mirza won many hearts when she starred in Tumko Na Bhool Paayenge with Salman Khan. In a recent conversation, she mentioned that the film is special for her as it marked the first collaboration between her and Salman. She recalled fond memories from the set and also narrated an incident that left her baffled.

In her conversation with Connect Cine, Dia mentioned that one day, as they were getting ready for shoot, the actress who played Salman’s mother in the film stood nearby. Salman then told Dia, “Do you know, at one time, this lady who’s now playing my mother was my heroine?”

Dia was shocked, and then Salman reiterated, “Yes, she was my leading lady in one of my early films.” Dia didn’t know how to react as she felt that the actress must have been the same age as Salman. The actor then said humorously, “Yes, and one day, you’ll play my mother.” Dia said in the interview, “I was baffled by that.”

She said, “I was a big Salman Khan fan when I signed that film and when we started to work together, I would just look at him everyday and think to myself that I can’t believe I am actually working with this person whose films I have watched over and over again.”

Dia Mirza recalled another incident from the shoot. She recalled shooting with Salman Khan in Rajasthan, where they were surrounded by a large crowd. Salman made sure she felt safe. She said that there were very few women on set at the time, and it was mostly men. Dia said, “The kind of gender balance you see on sets today, didn’t exist in those days. Unless there were female dancers on set, there were hardly any women. It was a male-dominated space. And I remember him being extremely protective and extremely caring.” Dia Mirza recalled shooting the song Bindiya Chamke Choodi Khanke in Rajasthan. Afterwards, a large crowd followed them, causing chaos. Dia remembered how Salman made sure she got into the car first, a kind gesture she will never forget.
