,
In the video, passengers told that Rs 40 is being charged per ride in the steamer. Whereas the government has given a huge amount to the contractor for the operation of the steamer. This money is given for the maintenance of the steamer, fuel and wages of the workers.
The passengers allege that the contractor is making this illegal recovery through his henchmen. Passengers who refuse to pay are humiliated. Indecent language is used.
Villagers complained
According to villagers, two pontoon bridges (Galauli/Bara and Madauli/Adhawal) on Yamuna river in Jaspura area are under the same contractor. Similar recovery is being done from passengers at both the places. Construction of pontoon bridges begins on 16 October every year, to repair bridges broken during the rainy months (15 June to 15 October). But this time, despite the beginning of December, the construction of the bridge has not started. Villagers say that due to corruption the work of the bridge is pending, due to which people are troubled.
Negligence of government officials came to light
Passengers and villagers have demanded that the illegal recovery on government steamers and the delay in the construction of the bridge should be investigated. No concrete action has been taken by the administration yet in this matter. This video is raising questions on the working style of the local administration and contractors. It is causing anger among the general public.
